Results From Questionnare

Questionnaire


As part of research on our target audience we produced a questionnaire in which will give us information on how to successfully produce a music video our targeted audience would enjoy

Analyzing data from the questionnaire I found out useful information such has 69% of female like the indie genre compare to 31% of boys and also the indie genre is also popular with 15- 19 year olds. This information allows us to rethink our representation of the band so that it’s appealing more the females and younger audience

In our questionnaire we asked the audience whether they preferred narrative or performance the results showed that in both male and female 50% said they liked music video to have narrative as well as 50 percent wanting it to have narrative. This shows that we have to include both performance and narrative in our music video. Another aspect of the narrative and performance was  people said they like “interesting” “narrative linked to lyrics” “lyric linked to video” this supported with finding in our focus group shows that our targeted audience prefer a literal or take on words of the lyrics in our focus group the audience said they like “quirky” and interesting and also a “narrative that keeps audience hooked and thinking throughout” all this show that we would have to make our video fun interesting and quite unusual in other to attract out target audience.

We produced a locket scale in which we asked the audience to rate their favorite , working out the average of this we found out that indie audiences prefer bands such as artic monkeys yeah yeah yeah yeahs and Kaiser chiefs whereas there were poor ratings of different genre bands such as Taylor swift and rhianna. This allows us to think about representation of the band directing to more of the bands rather than rhianna or Taylor swift

Analyzing this data will help me to develop the image of our potential target audience



 
 

Demographics

Age- the target audience for our music video age range between 13- 30 although from our focus group 94% was 15- 19 i think that opening the age bracket will also help get more audience as also 6% of our findings of people who liked indie were over the age 20 so opening the age bracket will allow us to think a little about the older audience.

Gender – at first it seemed male audience would be the dominant audience however our finding show that they will be more of female. However althoght the dominant gender is female we wouldn’t completely exclude male while thinking about our music video ideas.  

•income bracket/status the income bracket of our audience would be quite low as we are going mostly for student’s therefore  will either be unemployed or still getting payed on a minimum wage. Knowing this therefore help us know the amount of disposable income our target audience have and knowing that they are mostly students allow us to price our product reasonably

Race/Ethnicity-our music video will appeal to all people from different ethnicities, which enjoy music. This is because indie music isn’t a centralized genre so it will have a widespread liking from different regions.

Psychographics

Audience are very artistic and like to explore so this will reflect in the music video. They like to see fun quirky and interesting narrative something that will keep them interested over the whole music video. Also they would sometime like to see a response to a serious issue but in a n ironic way Audience is an explorer and reformer. Always enjoys energetic adventures and seeks for adrenaline rushes meanwhile having strong social awareness and has a freedom of restriction. Our audience is likely to have finished or going on to higher education.

Spare time is taken by extra activities such as music, playing guitar surfing the internet playing games and social networking. Also spends a lot of money going to the cinema and buying the latest cd or dvd. Other things they do for fun includes going to festivals to see bands and meeting up with friends

Our target audiences are likely to be living with their parents or on their own at while studying higher education at uni.
As explorers and reformers are always satisfied with what they and anti-materialistic but try new products but are always careful on budgets and select good quality in what they wear.
